ISKCON
CONNECTICUT SUNDAY SCHOOL
Dear parents,
Hare Krishna. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
As many of you know, ISKCON of Hartford has been offering Hare Krishna
Sunday School for kids in the age range of 5 to 14. While the attending
children have been learning about Krishna consciousness in a fun-filled
and hands-on atmosphere, we are exploring ways to systematize and
add more structure to the Sunday school to further enhance their
experience, and inculcate pride and respect in our Vedic culture.
Following the model adopted successfully in many of our other ISKCON
temples, we plan to implement the following enhancements to the
Sunday school.
- The Sunday School Teachers will develop
and implement a structured curriculum with detailed lesson plans
for the Sunday school.
- In addition to learning about the Vedic
culture (through stories, slokas, and exposure to Vedic literature),
the children will engage in a variety of activities such as plays
and dramas, arts and crafts projects, and temple service. Through
this holistic approach, students will develop positive, spiritual
friendships with other children and learn how to make Krishna
Consciousness part of their everyday life.
- The cost for each participating child
is $25/year. This will cover the costs for printing materials,
materials arts and crafts, and other school supplies. Only registered
students will be allowed to participate in the class.
- Parents must make every effort to ensure
that the students come to class on time.
In order for us to successfully implement
these changes, we need support, encouragement and participation
from the parents. We need a minimum of about 7 kids to register
to participate.
As we plan to start the new curriculum
in the month of October, we request you to respond within the next
week if you are interested in registering your children.
We hope you will take advantage of this
opportunity for your children. For more information please contact
us. We will be happy to answer any questions or concerns you may
have.
